When turning attention towards “the thing which attempts to control”, you should find nothing, except more sensations. In other words, the thing which tries to control the contents of awareness is part of the illusory sense of self. Noticing this should cause the desire to control to spontaneously vanish, and for stillness, silence, bliss and equanimity to rush in in its place.
